This is about cycling, the environment and the human spirit. To share this tale is as challenging as it is rewarding. I had a serious attention deficit in school, "Hey wow, check out that Flicker"... and…..wait what was I saying? Oh yeah, I could not focus and sit still. They kept trying to make me stay in my seat... It was soooo boring... The stuff outside the window was way more interesting. I think that's because real life is dynamic. Always shifting and changing. For example, when I looked out the window of the classroom as the day wore on and on and on... the quality of the light would change and I noticed. I wanted to be IN IT... Be a part of the change... Classrooms are so static.
I would learn the lifecycle of amphibians by observing real frogs on the ponds nearby not reading about it in a text book. The texts had no basis in my reality. Now as an adult I’m fascinated and tickled by little things. Like salamanders or spider webs or Osprey building nests… I can make fire rubbing sticks together.
I have found a rhythm to life that is often fantastic, sometimes frightening, at times heartbreaking but always full of love and joy.
